Q: How do I report a road hazard, or a Sewer or Water problem after normal business hours?
A: In case of a road hazard or sewer emergency, contact the Hudson Police Department Dispatch at (603) 886-6011. If it is a water-related emergency, contact Pennichuck Water at (603) 882-5191. 

If it is a non-emergency, leave a message on the Highway Department answering machine at (603) 886-6018 and the matter will be taken care of during normal working hours.

Q: What are the new Clean Up Days Rules that are effective January 1, 2012? 
A: 
Hudson residents wishing to dispose of items at the West Road Landfill will abide by the following rules starting January 1, 2012:

  • Each residence serviced by curbside collection will be entitled to three clean up day passes per calendar year.
  • Passes are valid for that calendar year for which they are issued. All passes will expire on December 31 of every year.
  • Passes may be obtained at the Highway Department during normal business hours or at the landfill during clean up days.
  • Residents will be required to show a valid picture ID to be issued passes for their address. The address will be prominently displayed on the pass and is valid for that address only.
  • A valid picture ID will be required on the clean up day to match to the pass.
  • A pass will be required to dispose of any acceptable items per visit, NOT PER DAY.
  • Items that do not require a pass: leaf and yard waste, metal that can be recycled and bulk card board. These items can be dropped off as often as necessary during clean up days.

Q: How do I dispose of large items? 
A: 
(1). Hudson residents may call Pinard Waste Systems at 1-800-675-7933 to schedule a curbside pick-up of any bulk items or white goods. This service will be provided once per month. User fees for this service are as follows:
$30.00 for all Freon appliances
$20.00 for all metal appliances
$30.00 per item for all non-metal goods: Plastic, appliances, couches, mattresses, rugs, etc.
$30.00 for all TVs and CRT monitors
Payment: Credit card or check payable to Pinard Waste Systems

(2). Residents also have the option to bring acceptable items to Town Clean-Up Days, which are held at the West Road Landfill. Acceptable items include: Demolition and building materials, clean sheetrock, clean asphalt shingles, clean wood, brush, leaves, furniture, rugs, cardboard, appliances and scrap metal. Branches should be no greater than five inches in diameter. No Freon appliances, TVs/CRTs or household trash.

Q: When are the Town Clean-Up Days? 
A: Town Clean-up days are generally held on the last Saturday of every month from 8 AM to 2 PM. Upcoming Town-Clean-Up days are as follows:

Q: Where are the Town Clean-Ups held?
A: Town Clean-ups are held at the West Road Landfill. Directions: Heading north on Route 102, take a left onto West Road and then left onto Old Landfill Road. Go to the end and you will be at the Landfill.

Q: What is the holiday schedule for Trash/Recycling Pickup?
A: Collections for the week of a holiday will be postponed by one day if your trash day falls on or after the following holidays:

Independence Day
Labor Day 
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day
New Year's Day
Memorial Day

Q: How do I dispose of hazardous waste or electronics?
A: Hazardous Waste and Electronics can be disposed of at one of Nashua Regional Planning Commission's Hazardous Waste Collection dates. For a listing of times, locations, and fees see the attached NRPC flyer, or visit their website:www.nashuarpc.org or call 603-424-2240.

TVs and CRT monitors can be picked up at curbside by Pinard Waste for $30. 

RST Reclaiming at 66B River Road, Hudson also accepts electronics for a fee. Contact them at 603-595-8708 or visit their web site for info.

Q: How do I dispose of Automotive Waste?
A: Used motor oil can be disposed of at the Highway Department, 2 Constitution Drive, Hudson, during normal business hours. Sam's Club, Hudson, will accept tires and car batteries for a fee. Tire Warehouse, Hudson, will accept tires for a fee. 

Q: How do I dispose of Fluorescents and Mercury Containing Items?

As of January 1st, 2008 New Hampshire State Law prohibits throwing items containing mercury (Thermometers, thermostats, fluorescent bulbs) into the trash. Mercury is a very toxic substance and requires special handling. KEEP FLUORESCENT BULBS, COMPACT FLUORESCENT BULBS, THERMOMETERS, AND THERMOSTATS OUT OF YOUR TRASH!
Free Disposal of Fluorescent Bulbs, Thermometers and other Mercury-Containing Items: Bring Mercury-containing items for disposal to the Hudson Highway Department, 2 Constitution Drive, Hudson, NH during normal working hours. (M-TH, 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM)

Q: Who do I call for questions about my trash or recycling?
A: Pinard Waste Systems, Inc. is the company that handles Hudson's trash and recycling. Their number is 1-800-675-7933. You can contact them if your trash or recycling was not picked up, if your trash cart is damaged, or if you wish to purchase a second trash cart ($75 one time fee to the resident). If you are unsuccessful in reaching Pinard Waste, you can call the Highway Department office at 603-886-6018.

Q: Where do I get a recycling bin?
A:Recycling bins are available free of charge to Hudson residents. You may pick them up at the Hudson Highway Department during normal business hours. Another option would be to use trashcans for your recycling (one for Mixed Paper and One for Commingled), they are larger so they hold more items and most come with lids to keep items contained.
