Recycling Information
Please remember that 80% of your discarded items are made up of the materials listed below. There is no cost to the Town of Hudson for the disposal of these commodities. You are encouraged to remove these items from your general trash and help save the town substantial disposal costs, which are funded from your tax dollars.
Paper Products
What Can Be RecycledNewspaper, Cereal Boxes, Phone Books, Writing Paper, Pizza Boxes, Brochures, Magazines, Folders, Paper Bags, Catalogues, Books, Junk Mail, Paper Towel Rolls, All Cardboard, Manila Folders.
If It Rips...Recycle It!
How to prepare it:
- Do not place paper to be recycled in plastic bags.
- Cardboard should be flattened and no bigger than 2 feet wide & 3 feet long. Ripped into smaller pieces is acceptable.
- Shredded paper should be placed in a paper bag with top folded down, or put under other objects so as to not blow away and cause litter.
Do not recycle the following:
- Waxed paper
- Soiled paper
- Used tissues
Commingled Containers
What Can Be RecycledAll plastic containers #1 through #7 (beverage containers, tubs, laundry detergent containers, etc.), plastic shopping bags stuffed into each other (see below), clear, brown, green, and blue glass containers used for foods and beverages ONLY, tin and steel cans, metal lids to jars or bottles, all aluminum cans pet food cans, aluminum foil, disposable pie tins and aluminum baking trays.
How To Prepare It
- Keep all plastic, metal, and glass in the same bin or barrel, but separate from paper products.
- Plastic shopping bags should be scrunched up and stuffed into other plastic shopping bags (The "Bag of Bags.") If possible place under heavier objects to prevent litter.
Do Not Recycle The Following:
- Needles
- Foam Rubber
- Light Bulbs (ESPECIALLY FLUORESCENTS)
- Ovenware, Ceramics
- Styrofoam
- Containers for hazardous or toxic materials (Paint, Rat poison, Gasoline, etc.)
- Propane Tanks
- Window Panes
- Appliances
